So what about the threat of Islam? As I see it, the priceless message that Jesus lived and died to get across to us is that the Almighty, the Creator, actively seeks our friendship, provided we accept His terms. In my limited understanding of Islam, Muslims think it would demean Allah to seek Man’s friendship; they dare not seek His. If that vignette of comparative religion is correct, then if Islam won, and Christianity lost, the message of Jesus would be extinguished, not just for the duration of a thousand year Reich, but for ever. It is inconceivable that there should be a second Saviour. Whereas if they can live side by side, Christians might acquire some of the virtues of Muslims; and Muslims might acquire some of the tolerance of Christians, without either being false to themselves.
