What happens to those who are shut out? My guess is that they have to make their own arrangements for coping with eternity, and its unbelievable boredom. Unless of course they hear, like Faust, a voice behind them saying, “Hither to me”.

This is what must have motivated Christ to make his supreme sacrifice: the intense knowledge of the betrayal involved if he did not allow his unique and majestic Spirit to reach its full stature. But is it not the same for the rest of us, although the knowledge may be fogged and anything but intense? It is conceivable that the Creator may have moulded his creation to fit in with the destiny he had in mind for his Redeemer; but it would be sheer presumption for the rest of us to imagine that he moulded it to accommodate our happiness. If it would have been the supreme betrayal for Christ, it is wise to pause before we put our own happiness first.
